Frequently Asked Questions

Appointments

What will my first visit entail?

You will be required to complete our new patient paperwork, including a medical history form. We will also need to obtain your insurance information at that time, so please be sure to have it on hand. A comprehensive examination will be performed to check your teeth, supporting structures and tissue. Any necessary radiographs (X-rays) will be taken.

How far in advance should I call to reschedule my appointment if I need to cancel?

Our office requires 48 hours notice for appointment cancellations. If you fail to notify us prior to your scheduled visit, you may incur a $75/hour no-show and cancellation fee.

When should I bring my child in for his/her first dental appointment?

2 to 2 1/2 years old is an appropriate time for children to first see a dentist. Doctor Hodges will gladly see children of any age.

Insurance

Our preferred insurance provider is Regence BlueShield

You are directly responsible for all charges, regardless of decisions made by your insurance company. For patients with whom we have verified eligibility with an insurance provider, we are happy to file the necessary forms with your insurance company to enable you to receive your maximum possible benefits. However, the insurance policy is a contract between you, your employer and your insurance company; we make no guarantee of any coverage or payments from your insurance provider. We will estimate your insurance coverage before each dental treatment, but the final decision will be made by your insurance carrier. Any amount that is not covered by insurance will be due from you at your dental appointment. Your final statement will reflect a credit or balance due after your insurance has made their payments. Please keep in mind that all insurance companies vary in their coverage and you are ultimately responsible for your account.

USUAL AND CUSTOMARY RATE: Our practice is committed to providing the best treatment for our patients and we charge what is usual and customary for our area. You are responsible for payment regardless of any insurance company's arbitrary determination of usual and customary rates.

In the past, my dentist has given me nitrous oxide for certain procedures. Can I receive that in your office?

Yes, we offer nitrous oxide and sedation to make your visit more comfortable. We also offer flat panel TVs in each operatory which can be a wonderful distraction.

Do your sophisticated instruments and systems make procedures more pleasant for the patient?

Yes. In addition to allowing us to perform many procedures more quickly and efficiently, much of our state-of-the-art equipment helps decrease any discomfort a patient may feel during the process.

Are there any dangers associated with oral procedures that use lasers?

No. Laser technology is actually less invasive than many previous methods. All of the laser equipment and systems we use are completely safe. For more information, visit the Biolase website.
